Google has released AI Edge Foresight, an experimental note-taking application for macOS that can transcribe meetings and audio files entirely offline. According to The Verge, the app is available free of charge.
Foresight runs on Google's on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model. Alongside transcription, it can summarise recorded material, placing it in the same broad category as AI meeting and writing tools such as Granola and Wispr Flow.
Its offline design is the notable distinction. Processing meeting audio without an internet connection could appeal to teams handling sensitive internal discussions, although organisations would still need to assess the app's security, governance and data-handling fit before using it for work.
For Lithuania's growing AI and digital economy, the release offers another practical illustration of how smaller, device-based models may bring AI features closer to where data is created. Foresight remains experimental, but its approach points to a less cloud-dependent model for everyday productivity software.
