Microsoft has introduced the Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, targeting developers who need local computing power for AI work. ServeTheHome reports that both devices use NVIDIA's RTX Spark platform.
The laptop combines an Arm-based RTX Spark N1X processor with integrated Blackwell graphics. Configurations offer 18 or 20 CPU cores and 24 GB to 128 GB of unified memory. Sharing memory between the CPU and GPU gives AI workloads access to a larger pool.
Hardware includes a 15-inch touchscreen operating at up to 120 Hz, a 92 Wh battery and a replaceable SSD. Connectivity includes USB-C, USB-A, HDMI and an SD card reader. One USB-C port supports a magnetic charging cable connection. The laptop weighs two kilograms.
Prices start at $2,600. A 20-core model with 32 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD costs $3,700, while a 128 GB configuration reaches $5,900.
The desktop Dev Box pairs 20 CPU cores with 128 GB of memory and a 2 TB SSD for $6,000. It includes Windows 11 Pro and development tools such as Visual Studio Code, GitHub Copilot, WSL and PowerShell 7.
